A Wofford University professor says his son was able to make it out of Egypt safely.
Government professor Bill Demars says his son, Daniel, is a student at Notre Dame University and had just made it to Egypt for a study abroad program before the recent protests and riots broke out.
Demars said his son was put on a flight Monday arranged by the State Department from Egypt to Turkey.
The study abroad program was based at American University in Cairo, where Demars was a professor for four years starting when his son was 5 years old.
Demars says his son was never in danger, and he hopes he can return to Egypt someday.
