Officials at Vermont's Middlebury College say 22 students who had been studying in Egypt as part of the college's international program are out of the country and on their way home.
The college says the students and two college staff members left Alexandria, Egypt, Monday at about 4:45 p.m. Eastern time on their way to the Czech Republic.
The students are expected to spend at least one night in Prague while arrangements are made for their return to the United States.
The college says 5 of the students are from Middlebury and the other 17 are from other schools.
For the last week Egypt has been roiled by street protests against the government of President Hosni Mubarak.
