Marc H. Ellis, a tenured professor and director of the Center for Jewish Studies at Baylor University, could see his 13-year career at the Baptist institution come to an end as a result of an internal investigation that his supporters call an attack on academic freedom and an attempt to silence a "dissident Jewish voice."
Lori W. Fogleman, a university spokeswoman, confirmed that charges against Mr. Ellis have been filed with the Baylor Faculty Dismissal Committee, but would not discuss the details of the charges.
