In Googling for an image of Georgetown professor John Esposito, I came across this item on him at The Investigative Project on Terrorism.
But whether he deserves that respect is put in serious doubt when assessing his cozy ties with radical Islamists and his repeated defense of their ideology — a relationship that is detailed in a newly issued report by the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT).
He came to my attention via this opinion item he wrote for Aljazeera.
John L Esposito is University Professor and Professor of Religion and International Affairs, Georgetown University. His recent books are The Future of Islam and (with I Kalin) Islamophobia and the Challenge of Pluralism in the 21st Century.
So much for wondering why we see some of the thinking we do coming out of our colleges and universities today.

Once again extremists – both the US-based creators of the video, Innocence of Muslims and extremists in Cairo and Benghazi, and subsequently from the Arab world to Southeast Asia – are the agents behind the latest tragic flash point in death and destruction.
