The violent protests overseas following the release of what has been called an anti-Islamic film spurred a lecture at the University of Toledo on Tuesday.
The purpose of the lecture was to put the unrest happening across many Muslim countries over the past few weeks into context. Ovamir Anjum, a professor of Muslim studies at the University of Toledo, wanted to let the attendees know that there should be no sympathy about the violence overseas.
He says that as Americans, we can learn from what is happening in the Middle East. He tells us that there were also protest against the violence and murders of the American citizens. The lecture was put together to provide people who attended with more information and understanding about what is happening in the Middle East.
