Georgetown University professor John Voll will speak tonight at Kingston Community Library as part of a new series, "Bridging Cultures: Understanding the Middle East & What it Means Today."
Voll, an Islamic history professor who taught at the University of New Hampshire for 30 years, will deliver the program's keynote address at 7 p.m. He is the associate director of the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown.
"Bridging Cultures" focuses on the relationship of Muslims and Christians in the Middle East and how they have worked together to make positive contributions in world history.
The library offers the "Bridging Cultures" collection, which consists of 28 books and films. The program, which continues through spring, is funded through grants received from the American Library Association, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
