Middle East studies in the News
Angry Arab Rant (Welcome to the Club)
by Gary Fouse
As'ad AbuKhalil is a professor at California State University at Stanislaus. He is your typical left-wing, Israel-hating professor who labels himself, appropriately, as the Angry Arab, which is the name of his blog (Angry Arab News Service).
Perfect resume for a political science professor.
At any rate, Campus Watch is highlighting this boob as the Howler of the Month for this screed concerning the recent conference of the Middle East Studies Association. Apparently, this group is not radical enough for the Angry Arab.
Fousesquawk comment: Has this man ever heard of a paragraph? This is living proof that you should never write when you are angry. Apparently, AbuKhalil is too angry to pay attention to his paragraphs. It also appears he is too angry to comb his hair.
I actually saw this character speak at UC Irvine back in 2009.
And what is this legal defense fund on his site? Well, it seems some mischievous soul has defamed the Learned Professor by spreading rumors that he had worked for the CIA. Hence, he now needs our financial help to sue somebody or everybody. This is really good stuff.
I sense a bit of Napoleonic complex at work here, so in honor of Professor AbuKhalil, I thought I would play what he might like to adopt as his theme song by another chap named Napoleon.Note: Articles listed under "Middle East studies in the News" provide information on current developments concerning Middle East studies on North American campuses.
