Moonlighting: Non-Specialists in the News"Go On Now Go, Walk Out the Door..." [on Norman Finkelstein]
Chronicle of Higher Education http://chronicle.com/blogs/footnoted/index.php?id=1187 http://www.campus-watch.org/article/id/4603 Norman Finkelstein has re-emerged in a rent-stabilized apartment on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn. "It's like death," the professor tells New York magazine. "You keep saying you're going to die, but you never really come to grips with it. And I can see I'm not going to get another job. I haven't yet fully absorbed it." It has been a few months since Finkelstein lost his controversial bid for tenure at DePaul University, and he is apparently spending his days at home alone, surrounded by notes of support from his students, and a picture of him and Noam Chomsky bare-chested on the beach at Cape Cod. On the CD player: Gloria Gaynor's rousing 1978 disco song, "I Will Survive."
