Kudos to York University for letting pro-Israeli commentator Daniel Pipes speak on campus. A giant raspberry to those seeking to silence him in the name of free speech.
Mr. Pipes is a controversial figure and his views are upsetting to many. But a university is not a nursery, designed to be soothing and reassuring. A statement by the faculty association that Mr. Pipes has a "racist agenda" is scurrilous, and the claim of his critics that permitting a diversity of views is censorship, while shutting up everyone who disagrees with them is academic freedom, is flagrantly Orwellian.
The university stood up to this evil nonsense and let free speech flourish. Good for it. Now, about that problem at Concordia University ...
