A Muslim leader invited to participate in Barack Obama's inaugural prayer service has been linked to Hamas.
Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America, has been named by federal prosecutors as a co-conspirator in the case against the Holy Land Foundation, Politico reported.
The foundation and its five leading officials were convicted last year of funneling more than $12 million to Hamas, which the United States government designated as a terrorist group more than a decade ago.
Mattson has been invited to offer prayers for Obama, alongside seven other Christian and Jewish clergy during a prayer service at the National Cathedral in Washington on Tuesday.
She is a professor of Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations at the Hartford Seminary in Connecticut.
The Union for Reform Judaism has partnered with Mattson's Islamic Society to build ties between North American synagogues and mosques.
