Virginia: Vote on Islamic School [on Islamic Saudi Academy]

Fairfax County planners voted to recommend approval for an expansion of the Islamic Saudi Academy, which sought permission to erect a classroom and administrative building for 500 students on a campus the Saudi government bought in 1984. Neighborhood residents fought the plan over traffic and environmental concerns, while other critics opposed the school because of its religious curriculum. Final approval hinges on a vote by county supervisors, a date for which has not been set.
